This reminds me of a quote from the great philosopher Wayne Campbell.

'I thought I had mono for a whole year. Turns out I was just really bored.'

Then he said something like 'Exsqueeze me, a baking powder' or I dunno…

Oh my gosh, I haven't thought of that line (or that movie) in ages! Wonder if it holds up…might be worth a re-watch soon.

I believe there is a lot of seasonality to a lull - just like you are experiencing with everyone "Going Back to School". It does signal the end of summer and makes me feel a little sad too. The days are shorter, and I don't get to be as active for as many hours. I totally get being thrown into a period of Drout.

Yes! The shorter days seem to always coincide with lulls for me too. On the upside, it's almost Giant Sweater Season®, so there's that to look forward to.

It's hard to allow yourself "non-productive" times in our society that makes us think that we only have value when we are productive. In farming they allow a field to go fallow for a season to allow the land to replenish itself as well as stop the progress of any predatory species feeding on the crops desired. I think this translates to the creative process as well. So much time is actually saved from the outcrop of bad/convoluted/distracted ideas when you allow your mind to sit fallow for a time to refresh... Make any sense at all to anyone but me? I may be in need of fallow time...

Oh I love this so much. You just taught me something! Allow fallow. Should we make bumper stickers or something?!

You're such a wordsmith. My bumper sticker would be "Follow to Fallow"
