He never did find a job that fit his requirements! He did volunteer at his retirement community, though.

Yes! Somewhat. He volunteered for his retirement communityā€™s night watch, which consisted of driving around from 12-2 am to make sure no one had left their garage door upā€”a strict violation! Thankfully, there were few violations and therefore, little to no personal interaction.

Wonderful story and tribute to your husband's dad. One thing that struck me is that people who have not been practicing their faith, suddenly want the comfort of faith as they see the end. I am a non-practicing Catholic. I have no idea what I would do when the end is near.

I bet I will find God at the last second too. Perhaps when I am forced to slow down, that is when I will find it! The little bit of Catholic I grew up with will come oozing out of me.
